We wanted to show you a few tips for making your next event really stand out.
Give it a great name
When you have an event and you have it named, it stands out more to people than if you just throw an event and call it ‘Marketing Mixer’ or some such title. If you call it Marktonia: The future of marketing has arrived’ it’s guaranteed to be a more memorable event, even if only for the fact that it has a goofy sounding name and people will think, gee that’s goofy. If your event has a local focus, try to incorporate that into the title. If you’re going global with your event, make sure you name your event something that everyone can identify with and understand.
Market your event
Marketing has changed a lot in the past ten years, especially with the advent of the Internet. There are lots of things that you can do for little or no cost though, and you can get a lot out of social media when you are promoting an event. When you are looking to throw an event, you need to make sure that you have a good presence on social media and that you have the event setup to attract interest. Think about incorporating something like an event hashtag, as this will get people using the hash tag and sharing your event on social media both prior to, during, and after the event. Not only does this draw interest to the event, but it also gives you assets to use after the event for promotion.
Pick a great venue
Throwing an event means you need a space to hold the event in! If you choose somewhere really cool for your event to take place in, you will automatically get some credit and kudos from the venue itself. Having some cool gimmicks like a photo booth or a media wall for people to take pictures in front of will also add to the extra appeal of having at the event in a kooky space. Consider photo booth hire as a way for you to get some awesome memorabilia for your guests or confederates.
Ticket type and cost
You need to think about what will work best for your event – if you’re throwing a one day event can you offer a discount for early bird purchases, or can you charge less for people who are from a certain industry? This kind of promotion will help your event to stand out for sure. Could some of the event be free for part of your audience, to attract more relevant people who want to attend?
Keep it simple
Whatever you opt for as a means to making your event stand out, you need to keep it simple and enjoy the time you have at your event. Good luck!
